Cinnamon Buns

These cinnamon buns are honestly to best you will ever have! They are light as air, so fluffy and completely delicious. They are a new entry to our menu for 2021.

Yield:        9 buns

Prep Time:    2 hours

Bake time:    20 minutes

Equipment:    mixing bowl, rolling pin, 9 inch round cake tin




Ingredients


For the dough


180ml        Warm Milk

8g        Dried  Yeast

50g        Caster Sugar

1        Egg

1        Egg Yolk

60g        Butter

375g        Strong Bread Flour

1tspn        Salt








For the filling


150g        Dark Brown sugar

1tbspn        Ground Cinnamon

60g        Butter








For the Icing

100g         Icing Sugar

40g         Butter

100g        Cream Cheese

1/2 tspn    Vanilla Extract




Method

  1. Gently warm the milk then remove from the heat before it comes to the boil. Allow to cool to room temperature then mix in the egg, egg yolk, sugar and melted butter.

  2. In a mixing bowl place the flour and salt, add the milk mixture and knead on a medium setting with a dough hook attachment for 8 minutes. The dough should form a nice ball and be slightly sticky to the touch.

  3. Grease a bowl for the dough, cover with a damp cloth or cling film, and leave in a warm place to prove for about an hour. The dough should double in size.

  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and with a rolling pin try and roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1mm thick.
